Aynsley Johnson who leads Amergin’s Aged Care services has been selected to join a growing group of emerging leaders under the Leading Aged Services Australia – LASA Next Gen Ambassadors Program.
The program is part of an industry wide initiative to engage and encourage young professionals to see age services as a dynamic, innovative and life changing career opportunity.
Nearly 100 Ambassadors across clinical and non-clinical professions have been exclusively selected to provide advice and sector guidance on not only ways young leaders can influence the sector for change, but also creative and innovative ways to improve and promote aged care services to the next generation.
Aynsley has been appointed Chair for the Queensland State Council and is tasked to lead broader discussions designed to promote age services to young Australians.
As the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety recently shifted its focus on to the regulation of aged care, particularly quality and safety, Aynsley continues to advocate for change whilst working directly with providers, using education to help them improve the quality and safety of services they provide to older Australians.
Aynsley spoke about her appointment saying “I feel privileged to be not only selected as one of QLD’s State Council Ambassadors but also elected by my peers as the Chair person for the group. This new initiative is providing the next generation of leaders within the aged care sector with a voice and a platform to bring about awareness and change. As young and emerging leaders we have an opportunity to work together, learn from each other and promote the aged care industry as an exciting and rewarding career path. I feel so passionate about the sector and what we can learn from our older Australians and am looking forward to the journey ahead”.
